A little about the Infant Community |
|
The Montessori Assistants to Infancy Training began in 1947 in Rome. In 1980, Dr. Silvana Montanaro, a psychiatrist who lectured the courses in Rome, integrated the training with contemporary research and offered the first AMI accredited Assistants to Infancy Training. The programme is based on extensive observation of infants and very young children. It provides for the importance of sensory development, language, music and joy in the environment. The toddler sized space, especially designed for this age-group with materials that engage children in specific ways, allow for the natural growth of their senses, movements, communication and social skills. |
